Google Adsenseless

Google Adsense

I have been a publisher for Google Adsense for more than 6 Months and I have not received a check, nothing! My current account ($96.03) is close to the magic number $100. The thing that disturbs me is the same 6 or so ads keep displaying. I can’t figure that out and I am not about to try.

Adsense is well known and used by many web site owners that are trying to monetize their web site. I have heard of a few success stories about individuals who are making major bank with Google, but these are few and far between.

Is it worth the space of a 468×60 banner? I am thinking it’s not, and maybe that real estate can be used more sensible. I have searched and tested many advert programs and have not found one that hit a home run or even close. To see a list of advert web sites that I tested, click on the link below.

I am currently testing OpenX. This company provides adserver technology.

You have to keep trying to find that goose that laid the golden egg. I just wish it would call out to me to make things much easier.

I got Ranked and not Ranked on!

Thursday, March 6th, 2008 | Tech Corner with 13 Comments

I have written 2 other blogs on web site ranking according to Alexa. I use both Alexa and Quantcast to see how well my site is performing rank wise. Alexa ranks from 1 to 16+ million and Quantcast ranks 1 to 21+ million web sites.

After 15 days Alexa finally updated, and I am very pleased with this update. We have improved from 411,877 to 182,673 from February 20th to March 6th! In 6 weeks here’s how we have progressed in ranking.

1/23 - 12,345,537
1/31 - 3,799,956
2/04 - 1,978,769
2/06 - 1,530,879
2/12 - 1,098,281
2/13 - 714,467
2/18 - 501,992
2/20 - 411,877
3/06 - 182,673
3/09 - 154,272

I realized that this significant gain in web ranking was not only a result from Entrecard who makes up 29.03% of our total traffic. I am currently advertising with 2 adverts and 3 social bookmark sites. I really took a close look at my detailed traffic according to Google Analytics and was impressed with my uniques, page views and bounce rate.

I am sure many of you will flock to see your updated ranking and why not, you deserve it!

One more thing I would like to add. In my last post about Alexa ranking update, I asked everyone to guess my Alexa ranking on the next update. The one who guessed closest would get 7 days of advertising!

We have a winner! Daily Tech Impressions. His guess was 250K.

Web site promotion techniques

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 | Tech Corner with 4 Comments

I read a lot of blogs that provide great tips for promoting your blog and or web site. I have just started this site recently and I am following my 3 simple rules to promote not only my blog, but my web site. My success rate in the past with other sites has been fantastic, but it takes a little elbow grease to accomplish the task at hand.

Tip 1: Your site meta tags are important, but not as important as they were 2 years ago. You need to create the 2 most significant meta tags and your title, they’re;

<title>Who are you?</title>

<meta name=”description” content=”here is where you describe your site” />

<meta name=”keywords” content=”blog, bloggers, technology, etc” />

This will help the search engine to index your web page correctly. Yahoo and Google will crawl your web site often, but it may take up to 8 weeks before your index in their directory. You can pay the premium to be index within 24 hours, but it’s not worth it, trust me.

Once you have all your tags completed and your web page is full of content you can now start to submit your web site to many search engines and directories. I recommend one of the best free tools on the internet Web Ceo 7.0. It’s a robust web promotion tool that is free and easy to use. You can buy an upgraded version, but the free product works very nicely.

Web CEO has a lot of features like auto submit. I use this feature to resubmit my site every 6 months. You can get this product by going to www.webceo.com.

Another way to promote your site is post on other sites such as forums that are of interest to you, get your name out these and in turn they will click on your link. You can also promote your blog for free with a little work. Here are a few blog directories that can help get your blog noticed.

Remember nothing comes free, you have to work at it a little each day. You can also download the Alexa ranking tool to see your sites ranking. It’s a great tool to track your progress. You can get it here http://www.quirk.biz/searchstatus/.

Good luck!
