Ok, Ok Entrecard

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 | Tech Corner with 6 Comments

After receiving many comments in the last few days, I decided to give this form of advert a chance. See, I am not a stubborn person. I will test this advert for 30 days, or until March 3rd 2008. Here’s my test plan.

My test plan:

1. Drop at least 100 EC’s daily out of the 300 allowed.
2. Write 5 to 10 recommendations per day.
3. Leave at least 10 comments daily on other blogs within the EC network.

I will keep a spread sheet to calculate visits, comments on my site, Alexa Ranking, and feeds.

I will try to be optimistic throughout the 30 days. I will report my results in a blog to share with other bloggers. I only ask that if I drop, you drop on blogtbt. In order for this to work we must help each other, but also review other blogs and not just drop and run.

Let the games begin!

Entrecard Myth

Thursday, January 31st, 2008 | Tech Corner with 12 Comments

I have read a lot about Entrecard and how great it’s for new blog sites. I tried this new way of getting traffic to my site by dropping widgets on other Entrecard members. I must say it’s somewhat of a burden as all you do is click and close and open and click and close, etc. It seems most people are doing just that. It takes away from the most important part of a blog site, and that is reading the authors content.

I find it funny that you can enter contests to win Entrecard credits also known as EC. You can use EC’s to advertise, but you may have to lose a hand to do so. There are many blog sites that will allow you to advertise your EC, but it may cost you 400+ EC’s. That’s a lot of time collecting credits when you only get 1 EC per click. You’re better off writing interesting content and utilizing another form of paid advertising to draw an audience. The old saying is “you get what you pay for”.

Entrecard is a hit and run concept and it really is not a value add in my opinion. I came across many blog sites that praise the concept. I have reviewed over 100 EC blog sites, and many are not ranked or have a very low reach, and reader base.

Did I mention the site is slow as snot?

Bye, Bye Entrecard!
