I have read a lot about Entrecard and how great it’s for new blog sites. I tried this new way of getting traffic to my site by dropping widgets on other Entrecard members. I must say it’s somewhat of a burden as all you do is click and close and open and click and close, etc. It seems most people are doing just that. It takes away from the most important part of a blog site, and that is reading the authors content.
I find it funny that you can enter contests to win Entrecard credits also known as EC. You can use EC’s to advertise, but you may have to lose a hand to do so. There are many blog sites that will allow you to advertise your EC, but it may cost you 400+ EC’s. That’s a lot of time collecting credits when you only get 1 EC per click. You’re better off writing interesting content and utilizing another form of paid advertising to draw an audience. The old saying is “you get what you pay for”.
Entrecard is a hit and run concept and it really is not a value add in my opinion. I came across many blog sites that praise the concept. I have reviewed over 100 EC blog sites, and many are not ranked or have a very low reach, and reader base.
Did I mention the site is slow as snot?
Bye, Bye Entrecard!

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.

Oh come on, I think you’re being a bit harsh. Entrecard is a great way to promote yourself, but doesn’t need to consume any more time then you’re willing to spend on it.
Why not run it for a month and see if you don’t get more comments, subscribers, and a higher alexa rank?
I agree with you. I’m seriously reconsidering it now. Maybe I’d just receive and not drop them as it’s very time-consuming.
Matt,
Thank you and I need to head over to your site.
Graham,
I will run it for another 2 weeks to see what results I get.
Michael,
In my opinion it seems to much work for someone who basically will only drop and run.
Thanks for dropping by my site.
as far as Entrecard goes, for myself, I’m loving it. I’m sorry your not having a good experience with it.
I’m on the fence with it myself. I’m actually finding a lot of new blogs to read that I enjoy. Not sure if it’s working the other way to bring readers to my blog.
Jury’s still out on Entrecard but if nothing else it seems to outperform traffic exchanges which I find to be a complete waste of time. Peace……..T
Thanks for visiting FrankJ I appreciate that.
As for EC, it’s a community as much as a promotion tool, so I guess I am getting to know the blogs and the personalities of those who write them as well.
I’ve found a delightful number of good blogs that I otherwise would not have found. Yes, sometimes it seels like it’s a lot of dropping, but I just do some every day, much like my other work. I am always surprised to see how many credits I’ve earned because I got caught up in reading and lost track.
I do admit that it sometimes takes important time from other work, so a balance is needed.
I like the community with EC better than some of the other social sites and you do see more reward as time goes on. Good luck with it!
Hi Frank,
Out of all people blogging about Entrecard, giving it much credit, my impressions with it are the closest to yours. The quality of visits coming via Entrecard is pretty lame. On the other hand, since I am not finding enough time to write longer posts (or even more importantly - to focus more on a topic or two), I am not complaining much.
Cheers
Shonzilla
I think you should give it a bit of time. Dropping cards can get boring at times mostly because not every site updates regularly and so you’re seeing the same content a lot. But it is a good way to find people with the same interests and not all of the blogs cost so much to advertise on.
I just wanted to say that EntreCard is what you make of it. I found this site through EntreCard and I stayed to read the post because the title caught my attention.
I’m not saying one way or another, but it’s something to consider.
Entrecard is great for new sites. I have found a number of consistent readers and commenters who never would have found my site if it wasn’t for entrecard. I really love it.
You really should try for yourself. Your experience with it might be different, but I’d suggest you at least try it.
