This web site was a great find, especially for Entrecard members who can drop on other members very quickly with no re-directs!

How does it work?

First set your category of interest from a drop down menu . Once you have selected your category, just click on “Set Tag” and click on the SiteHoppin button in the top left of the web site as shown above. SiteHoppin is a fantastic tool that allows Entrecard users to quickly collect credits by dropping their card on other Entrecard members. The site is safe, fast and it opens other web pages while never losing access with the SiteHoppin tool bar.

SiteHoppin speeds up the time to drop Entrecards. If you try to drop cards manually it can take you up to 20 seconds per blog site, but using SiteHoppin, I was able to drop 6 cards per minute. This is a 100% improvement on my drop speed.

I have tested 4 adverts, including Project Wonderful, Bidvertiser, Entrecard and now Traffic Era. When using Traffic Era you can earn time credits by browsing through ads that refresh every 10 seconds. After 10 seconds an image appears with a number that you must match in the box below in order to gain time credits. The process is slow as a slug, and for the time you spend online trying to gain time credits you will grow old fast.

How Time Credits Work

Traffic Era calculates the amount of time the member spends on your website (minimum 10 seconds and maximum 15 seconds) represents the cost to you. If they stay for 10 seconds, it costs you 10 time credits and if they stay for 15 seconds, it costs you 15 time credits. This is a problem. What if they get up and walk away while your site pops up? Too bad it will still cost you 15 time credits.

I like adverts that have no out of pocket cost like Entrecard and Project Wonderful for publishers. You can still purchase credits from Traffic Era to advertise your web site.

At first I was unsure of Traffic Era, but now I have a better understanding. I spent about two hours on their site and gained a handful of credits. I than assigned those credits to advertise my site. See the statistics below. I used 302 credits and set it for maximum speed for delivery.

My Statistics:

Let’s say my site was displayed for 15 seconds each time, that would cost 15 time credits. Now divide 15 time credits into 300 = 20. When I checked my site statistics during the time my site was being displayed, I only increased by 6 unique hits. Something is very wrong here.

Actual time my ad ran 2008-02-18 07:54:48 to 2008-02-18 08:16:01 = 21 minutes.

Conclusion: No Thanks! Did I mention that almost every site you come across is a get rich or get more traffic scheme? These sites are not even ranked in the top 1 million with Alexa. It reminds me of what ends up in my spam folder

It has been and will remain to be a huge issue in trying to obtain a quality domain name. There are many great domain names that are only parked with no web page. Have you ever been to Ebay and viewed some of the domain names being sold? I saw one listed for 20 million, yes 20 million dollars. A domain name is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay.

The first domain name I purchased was in 1995 and today it still a strong content driven site based on fishing in New York.

What’s the most important things in a domain name?

There are 3 significant things you should consider before purchasing a domain name.

1. Easy to remember. This is a must and the most important.

2. Short, less than 15 characters. Don’t buy a name that is too long. A bad example is www.thewarcraftplayersexchange.com. Try this instead www.thewarcraftpe.com. Short and easy to remember.

3. Relevant. Always try to make sure that your domain name has the main keyword that relates to your web sites identity.

I purchase my domains with GoDaddy.com and have been since their inception. The pricing is the best, and support as never been an issue. Godaddy has a lot of cool features for webmasters and site owners.

One of the best features about Godaddy.com when searching for a domain name that’s not available, is that Godaddy will provide a list of names that are close to the one your looking for.

I gave it the old college try. I registered as a publisher for 2 weeks with Bidvertiser. Advertisers bid on your ad space, this is how Bidvertiser works, it’s all in the name. I am now .61 richer, that’s 61 cents! I know, you want your cut, sure no problem.

Here are the stats:

1,435 Impressions, 1 click and I made .61. This means the advertiser probably set the max bid to $1.00 per click. The good news is the investment was minimal for the advertiser.

I encourage everyone to try as many adverts as possible to see what works best for you. In this case, it didn’t cost me a penny, but a little space on my blog.

Overall: I would not say Good or Bad. I still made .61 and there was no out of pocket expense. If you’re looking to increase your web traffic or you have a product to sell, this might be a good company to try. As far as being a publisher to earn money for ad spots, it didn’t work for me.

I am currently testing two other adverts to see how well they perform. I will write a blog about my findings to share with everyone.
